Sabrina Genesis
My government name is Sabrina Genesis Capizzi, but creatively I go by Sabrina Genesis. As a child, I never quite connected with my name. I even went through a distinct phase where I insisted my friends call me by my middle name, Genesis. To me, Genesis felt rare, entirely free from the weight of outside assumptions, and like a wide-open canvas that I could fill in however I wanted. I grew tired of the constant, inevitable associations with Sabrina the Teenage Witch, or the carefully curated Sabrina that needed to exist in my home. I desperately wanted to shed an identity that came with assumptions. Eventually, as time passed, I grew to love Sabrina (both the name and the person), while still holding a deep affection for my middle name. It felt wasteful that my middle name was hardly ever mentioned. What better way to marry my two identities than to label my creative work using my first and middle names together?

This space is a living archive of a mind in motion — curious, grateful, and perpetually mid-project. If something here moved you, made you laugh, or made you want to step outside and notice the dew on a leaf, then it did exactly what it was meant to do.
